Absence:

If a student is going to be absent from or tardy to school the parent/guardian MUST call the Health Office to report the absence/tardy (even if you have told other teachers).

It is the school's policy to make sure that all students are accounted for during the school day. We follow-up on ALL students who are absent and who have not been called in by a parent/guardian.  This requires the nurse to:

  • look up the student's schedule;
  • interrupt the class to verify the student's absence;
  • look-up the parent/guardian contact information;
  • Call the appropriate contacts;
  • Confirm the student's whereabouts with the main office.

All this is done to assure the safety of each student attending the Dover Sherborn High School. Please refer to the student handbook for specific information about the consequences for accumulated unexcused absences and/or tardiness.

When you call in, please state your name and relationship to the student, the student's name and grade and the reason for the absence/tardy.  Please call as early as possible and indicate if you would like a call back.
