Our Homework Policy…
|
¶
Homework
will typically be assigned four days a week, Monday through Thursday ¶
Long
term projects may require work to be done over the weekend ¶
There
is less homework given at the beginning of the school year. As the year progresses, the quantity of
their homework will increase. ¶
How long it takes for your child to finish his/her homework
will likely vary depending on content and difficulty. Forty-five minutes to an hour is the
approximate time I aim for. If a certain
night’s homework takes an unusually lengthy amount of time to complete please
let me know. ¶
Some assignments that can be expected weekly include: o
20
minutes of reading, 4 nights a week, Reading Log due on Friday o
Math

RESPONSIBILITIES: ¶
To
neatly and accurately record your homework assignments in your assignment
book ¶
To
take home necessary books, notebooks, worksheets, and supplies ¶
To
demonstrate your best effort on your homework (which means try everything,
even if it’s tough!) ¶
To
seek out support from a parent, sibling, friend, or teacher once you’ve tried
it on your own first ¶
To
keep your homework neat and legible and always write your name at the top ¶
To
pack all of your homework and supplies in your backpack to bring back to
school ¶
To
check your homework when you arrive in the classroom in the morning and be
willing to make corrections and learn from your mistakes ¶
To
take responsibility for late or missing homework by staying in for recess and
returning the completed homework the next day CONSEQUENCES
FOR MISSING HOMEWORK: Homework is an extension of our day and needs to be completed
daily. If your child forgets to
complete an assignment or forgets to bring it to school on the day it is due,
he/she will serve a recess detention.
The missing assignment should be completed and returned to school the
next day. If missing homework becomes a continual problem, I will arrange a
conference for parents, the student, and myself to
meet in order to problem solve how to improve the situation. |
